Harrison, White, Smith & Coggins, P.C., is pleased to announce the addition of attorney Ryan McCarty to its Spartanburg, S.C. office. Mr. McCarty will practice in a variety of areas including criminal and family law; divorce and child custody; civil litigation; contracts; probate law; personal injury; workers’ compensation; automobile accidents and injuries; wrongful death; and estate litigation.

Mr. McCarty began his career as an Assistant Solicitor under then Solicitor Trey Gowdy in the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office. During his six years as an Assistant Solicitor, Mr. McCarty handled hundreds of cases, including DUI, forgery, burglary, larceny, financial transaction card fraud and theft, drug trafficking, drug distribution, simple possession, assault and battery and murder. During his last year at the Solicitor’s Office, Mr. McCarty was promoted to the level of Supervisor and handled the prosecution of drug-related offenses in Spartanburg County. Mr. McCarty was in private practice in Spartanburg for several years before joining Harrison, White, Smith & Coggins.

Mr. McCarty is a 2001 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and a 2005 graduate of The University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, O.H. A resident of Greer, S.C., he and his wife also stay busy raising their three children. McCarty is active in his children’s activities as a coach, den leader and volunteer. He and his wife are members of Grace Church in Greenville where they both serve in the children’s ministry as Sunday school teachers.
