In November 2014, Rae Gilmore, 74, fell down the elevator shaft of Blackhorse Antiques in Gaffney, S.C. A volunteer and personal antique dealer at the store, Gilmore stepped into an open shaft and fell 14 feet to her death.

Thanks to the good work of attorney Tom Killoren and the KD Trial Lawyers. team, the family has finally received justice for her passing. Last month a settlement order was signed by Circuit Court Judge Keith Kelly for a total of $600,000 from the insurers of the Park Manufacturing Company; Crag & Tail, LLC; CDS Development Company, LLC; Frederick Street Antique Warehouse & Marketplace; and from the South Carolina Municipal Risk and Financing Fund on behalf of the City of Gaffney.

“I take great satisfaction in assisting Ms. Gilmore’s family though this very difficult situation,” says Killoren. “Although no amount of money is worth the anguish the family has suffered, I am pleased that the elevator maintenance company, the store and the City of Gaffney have agreed to settle, and that Ms. Gilmore’s family may find themselves one step closer to closure.”
